Ian Anderson

Director of Public Relations

Raised in the capital of the South, Ian spent his formative years (ages 19-22) living in a tent in West ‘by God’ Virginia learning how not to flip rafts full of unsuspecting guests. After graduating from Mr. Jefferson’s University, Ian migrated to Colorado where he could dovetail his whitewater habit with a ski addiction. Before starting at Backbone, Ian spent seven years pitching Vail to the media as the director of marketing and communications for the local tourism bureau. Today, Ian spends most of his free time just trying to keep up with his pro adventure racing wife, Sari, and their two grommets Juniper and Axel.

Two truths and one lie:

  • I’ve paddled off a 45-foot waterfall in my kayak
  • I used to wear sequins, sing and dance on stage in my high school show choir
  • I'm just starting to warm up after five hours on my mountain bike
