March 2, 2023 (Poulsbo, WA)— Grundéns, producer of the world’s leading fishing apparel and footwear, remains steadfast in supporting organizations that strive to protect and maintain sustainable fisheries and ecosystems. In 2023, Grundéns has committed to supporting Backcountry Hunters and Anglers, The Mayfly Project, and Wild Steelheaders United.

“Supporting non-profits and organizations that align with our core values is important to all of us at Grundéns,” says Ash Williams, Grundéns VP of Marketing. “All three of these organizations are taking critical steps in the conservation of natural resources and the education of the next generation of anglers. We will continue to use our strength as a business to help support these and other organizations in the crucial work they do.”

As the voice for the public lands, waters, and wildlife in North America, Backcountry Hunters & Anglers (BHA) believes that access is paramount to experiencing the outdoors. BHA and its 35,000+ active members unite to hold waterway cleanups and engage with elected officials to keep public lands in the public’s hands. Grundéns recognizes the importance of these public lands for all anglers and looks forward to helping maintain them alongside BHA. This year, Grundéns will be at the Backcountry Hunters and Anglers North American Rendezvous March 16-18 in Missoula, MT. Learn more about the event here.

Not everyone has the opportunity to experience the rivers of the West or the marshes of Louisiana, but the Mayfly Project introduces fly fishing to children in foster care to build confidence and a meaningful connection with the outdoors. The organization’s approach is to mentor a foster child through five stages similar to the life cycle of a Mayfly. During these five stages, children learn line management, casting techniques, knot tying, etymology, river safety, mending tactics, hook setting, catch and release tactics, and the value of conservation. Find a list of all the organization’s project locations here.

As a company based in the Pacific Northwest, Grundéns is very aware of the challenges steelhead face in the 21st century. Wild Steelheaders United is an initiative for anglers to learn about wild steelhead biology and ecology and to keep abreast of the latest management and policy issues. The organization’s recent film, Anadromous Waters is helping to increase the number of officially recognized anadromous streams by using community science in the Tongass National Forest Watersheds and surveying the area for steelhead.
