CEDAR CITY, Utah (Aug 1, 2022) – Outdoor Vitals, the Utah-based performance outdoor apparel and gear brand, today announced the release of its Fortius Trekking Pole Tent. Available in one-person and two-person versions, the Fortius is an ultralight tent that is actually storm-worthy, giving more options for pitching when it comes to direction, site selection, and reinforcement against the elements. With a weight of only 1.6 lbs. for the one-person version, the tent is meant for adventure and will keep backpackers protected and comfortable no matter what mother nature has in store.  

“When we set out to design a trekking pole tent, we wanted to make something truly ultralight,” said Tayson Whittaker, founder of Outdoor Vitals. “However, many ultralight trekking pole tents don’t hold up in some environments we often find ourselves in, such as violent thunderstorms. So, we made a more versatile trekking pole tent with plenty of reinforcement against the elements, and the resulting tent is one that can withstand extreme weather conditions and provide comfort in nearly any situation.” 

The Fortius features an abundance of usable space, with large protective vestibules to keep packs and other gear sheltered and safe without leaving users feeling claustrophobic inside the tent. With multiple storm points around the tent and extra-long detachable stake lines, backpackers can customize the set-up of the Fortius to fit the needs of their adventures. 

Outdoor Vitals uses innovative materials in the tent to ensure that it is sturdy enough to handle high wind conditions, heavy rain, and snow. The 15D sil/PU micro-ripstop nylon has a waterproof rating of 1,500mm HH and the bathtub floor keeps ground runoff from entering the tent during a downpour.  

The Fortius is meant for wild and tough adventures, allowing backpackers to travel further without sacrificing protection or comfort. The $325 two-person version weighs just 2.25 pounds, while the one-person model costs $275.
